  • Comments Thread For: Roach: Pacquiao Sparring Partners Better Than Algieri

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is not too worried about WBO 140-pound champion Chris Algieri (20-0, 8KOs). On November 22nd in Macau, Algieri will challenge Roach's star fighter, WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.

Roach arrived in General Santos City, with sparring partners Stan Martyniouk and Mike Jones, to start the hard phase of Pacquiao's camp. Both boxers will emulate the style or Algieri, but Roach believes both of them are actually better fighters than the Long Island boxer. Jones is physically bigger and taller than Agieri.

PAC seems to be the only fighter who has some top level sparring. I wonder who Chris is using to emulate manny style? Robert Garcia said PAC is harder to prepare for than Floyd, because you can't find a sparring partner who can mimic PAC style.

roach is plain stupid. pacquiao seriously needs another trainer or his last few fights are going to be hell. unless its another cherry picker.

this is exactly what I said on the Pacquiao vs Algieri thread. lol Algieri is tough and has great stamina but he is nowhere near Pacquiao's level. He's going to be running all night so he might survive, but there's a good chance also that Pac just completely overwhelms him.
