Freddie Roach, trainer of WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, sees nothing wrong with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) potentially facing former champion Joshua Clottey (38-4, 22KOs) in the fall. Team Canelo confirmed last week that Clottey was the leading candidate to face Canelo in the fall.
A mega-match between Cotto and Canelo is likely for the first half of 2015. Cotto was initially scheduled to fight on December 13th, but took a pass on the match because Roach will be unavailable for the majority of his training camp. Roach will be in the Philippines training Manny Pacquiao for his November 22 defense against Chris Algieri.
