  • Comments Thread For: Golden Boy VP Seeks to Justify Garcia-Salka Mismatch

Golden Boy Promotions Vice President Eric Gomez stood behind Danny Garcia, both literally and figuratively, cutting in as reporters questioned Garcia following the 140-pound champion’s easy and brutal knockout of the overmatched Rod Salka.

“Danny’s about beating the top guys, fighting the top guys. He’s always fought the top guys,” Gomez said when Garcia was asked about future opponents.

"Earned it" Salka didn't even earn a shot at a LW champ let alone a LWW champ. This was embarrassing interview from Gomes, he knew what was coming out of his mouth was BS yet kept talking LMAO.

Which is why Oscar got outta there so he wouldn't have to do this.

The fight is over and everyone should just move on. Garcia did his job in showing up to fight and Gomez did his job in his attempt to justify the match. The fact still remains....the fans and the Boxing experts know better and hopefully all those with egg on their face will NOT let this type of mismatching continue. IMHO is was a disgrace but i do NOT blame Danny. I blame the promoters and the other button pushers who clearly made a bad choice.

This guy is one of the faces of your company? What a complete joke. These guys are a bunch of crooks and since boxing is such a fringe sport, they are rarely held accountable. I actually canceled Showtime because of this exact event.

Eric Gomez is simply a bold face liar so obviously you weren't going to get a straight answer from him. I remember Gomez came out with a sob story on boxingscene about Ortiz needing more surgery for his broken jaw, but Ortiz himself said it was a lie probably not knowing it was Gomez who said it.

This backlash is great. We are doing our jobs as fans. Everyone should take to Espinozas, Showtimes, GBP's twitter and take a big ****ing dump.

                    Boxingscene let him off easy

Hes used to putting on huge mismatches like this tho, Floyd was a 16-1 favorite against Maidana, Broner was a 20-1 favorite against Molina , etc

And Garcia isn't the real Lineal champ, to be the Lineal champ you have to BEAT the Lineal champ

So by the definition, Pacquiao is still the Lineal champ at 140 and Bradley did a way better job of cleaning out 140 than Garcia did
