Australia's Daniel Geale has been given little chance by bookmakers and the US media in capturing the International Boxing Organizations and World Boxing Association belts from champion Gennady Golovkin at New York's Madison Square Garden.

But, with a tsunami of support from his Australian fans via social media, the Launceston-born middleweight is quietly confident of pulling off what could be the upset of the year on Saturday (Sunday AEST).

"It has been pretty awesome how people have responded," Geale told AAP on the eve of the bout.

Great to see support..

... but unless they can tag team GGG the support only goes so far. It would be wicked to come some 30 plus hours and find yourself in a pair of boxers, wrapped hands and no friends. While Geale is a good fighter Europeans and others except for eastern Europeans are B fighters at best. They do poorly on the world stage when stacked against Americans, Eastern Euros and others.

Good luck. GGG will impress with his patience, accuracy, speed, footwork and timing.
