  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Reacts To Critics of Garcia-Salka Card

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has reacted to the negative press from the writers, and the negative comments from the fans, with respect to the Showtime televised championship tripleheader on August 9th from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Boxing pundits, and most of the fans, showered negativity on the main event which features WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia defending his titles against lightweight contender Rod Salka (19-3, 3KOs), who is not ranked at junior welterweight and his biggest win came against untested Cuban prospect Alexei Collado.

It all depends who you like or support. Danny has a lot of haters so people are gonna talk ****. GGG fights Bob Smith and everybody is fine with it. Same goes for Kovalev.

The difference there is Golovkin has struggled most of his career to get anyone in the ring with him, and Kovalev doesn't have anyone left to fight at HBO. Danny probably has a half dozen great opponents who will get into the ring with him in a second.

De La Hoya should be embarrassed. This isn't going back to basics. This is pride cometh before the great fall of Golden Boy.

This is the worst shape i've ever seen boxing in.

Soto Karass put on a spectacular performance??? Lol ok Oskie. He's right about the Jap that came to fight with RG though. Danny's problem is he's fighting the bum Salka right after getting a shaky win vs Herrera. They said no to the rematch cuz they was moving on to bigger things.

I love the we can't get the fight we want so let's fight nobody theory. They used to use that excuse for Matthysse too.

I like watching Swift,Jacobs, and Peterson but this fight card belongs on Fox Sports. This is the same type of boxing cards HBO was buying from Haymon a couple of years ago. Now he is doing it on Showtime and his fighters are getting paid fighting bums. So when Al Haymon fighters fight somebody legit they don't want to, because they get paid to good to fight bums. Showtime is foolish to buy this garbage of a card.

140 is stacked, there's tons of match ups for Danny. 175 not so much, Golovkin is taking his toughest test to date with Geale.

Danny on the other hand is fighting a guy nobody has heard of and everyone keeps forgetting his name, but were 'hating' doe.

They fight the best available and willing opponents. Big difference.

                    You know this already.
