The final press conference took place for Saturday's card being staged by Pepe Gomez of Cancun Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions. In the main event, former multi-division champion Cristian Mijares (49-8-2, 24KOs) will return to action against Sebastian Daniel Rodriguez (20-6-1, 7KOs). The Televisa/Fox Deportes televised card will take place at the Oasis Hotel in Cancun, Mexico. Mijares is back for the first time since losing a twelve round unanimous decision to Leo Santa Cruz in March as part of the Canelo-Angulo undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. That prolonged ass whooping he took from Leo over 12 rounds was no joke, glad to see Mijares back. Hopefully he can win his fights and rise up again, then clear the air and rematch Victor Terrazas for another good scrap(since the first one was "controversial"). Rey Vargas and Genesis Servania are also good fights to be able to gauge where the prospects are actually at, and a winnable fight for either that could land a good name on their resume. Regardless with guys like Tomas Rojas, Terrazas, Mijares, Quigg, Frampton, Rigo, Santa Cruz, Avalos, Kiko Martinez Romero and young prospects such as Vargas, Servania, Kid Galahad and Andres Gutierrez the Super Bantamweight division is stacked, deep and ready for some gruelling wars to happen.
