Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Luis Ortiz steps up in class as he faces veteran Monte Barrett in a scheduled 10-round main event Thursday evening at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif.

The bout headlines a televised tripleheader, airing live on Fox Sports 1.

Ortiz (20-0-0-1NC, 17KO) is coming off of a 1st round knockout of Alex Gonzalez last November, in what served as his U.S. television debut, which also took place on Fox Sports 1.

Barrett (35-10-2, 20KO) was thought to be retired following a 4th round knockout loss to Shane Cameron in July '12. The bout was his second straight trip to New Zealand, following his points win over David Tua in their Aug. '11 rematch. The New Yorker, who turns 43 in May, opted to come out of hibernation to test the Cuban southpaw in Thursday's headliner. [Click Here To Read More]

I saw Aguilera stop Maskaev at Sac Memorial. Big contingent of Russians that live in West Sacramento came out to see him fight.

    They were not happy.

What a slow, hopelessly pathetic, lumbering poor excuse, sick joke of a heavyweight in Breazeale. Cant wait to say TIMBER when he gets hits by a fighter timing his ******ed lunges. It will be pure joy seeing that fraud get properly laid out.

Night of the pathetic heavyweights!!! And now we get some jokes named Washington and Skip Scott and neither guy can fight a lick and one lumbering fool finally goes down!!! What a FARCE night of Boxing. April Fools was 2 days ago, not today!!! And Rich Marotta had to make brainless statement about how there is new talent in the heavyweight division coming along. WTF???!!!!!!!!!!!!

That wasn't Boxing, it was a bunch of ancient heavyweights, a lumbering former Olympian and one pampered kitten leeching off the De La Hoya name. I'm sure you enjoyed the serious lack of talent and hapless setups....knock yourself out. I was actually looking for something that doesn't seem to matter to you.....at least one competitive fight.
