  • Comments Thread For: Oleg Maskaev Now Faces Danny Willliams in Krasnodar

Former WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev (38-7, 28KOs) was all set to get revenge on Corey Sanders on November 4th in Krasnodar, Russia. That fight is now off due to Sanders having visa issues and being unable to enter the country. The promoters behind the fight have been able to retain 40-year-old British boxer Danny Williams (44-18, 33KOs) on short notice. Maskaev returned last December to get a quick victory after three years away from the sport. He also earned a tough decision, while getting dropped, over Jason Gavern earlier this year. Williams, who lost his last eight matches, should have retired years ago and the boxer has done interviews where he admits he can no longer take a punch. The British Boxing Board tried to stop him from fighting, but Williams continues to fight under international licenses.

I agree that they are evenly matched at this stage. I don't have issues with these guys still fighting if they keep it real & fight each other.

first I was surprised Maskaev had made a comeback, sad that Williams hadn't retired yet, and then surprised again that Sanders was making a comeback :P

horrible fight and everyone involved (except the fighters) should be ashamed.

Williams has no business in a professional ring, this is a disgrace.
