  • Comments Thread For: Chisora vs. Boytsov in The Works For September 21

Last week BoxingScene.com reported that the EBU ordered Dereck Chisora (17-4, 11 KOs) and Denis Boytsov (33-0, 26 KOs) to battle for the heavyweight title recently vacated by Kubrat Pulev. The fight is now being discussed for Chisora's return date of September 21 at Copper Box in the UK. While boxing professionally since September 2004, Boytsov is still only only 27 years old but the talented boxer has struggled with various injuries over the years. He recently broke away from Universum and signed a promotional agreement with Sauerland Event.

Seems kind of soon and it doesn't leave much time for training, does it?

Anything that keeps both men active, particularly Boytsov, is good stuff. Matching them up is even better.

This fight is not happening, Boytsov is not mentally ready.

          Great matchup.

Chisora has been active and is probably still in shape from his fight with Scott. I hope Boytsov will have time to properly prepare.

The man who will fight any man on the planet VS the man whose promoters never let him see the planet.

Boytsov last fought 2 months ago and was too heavy at 226lbs looking a little soft but hopefully since signing with Sauerland and anticipating something like this he's been getting in shape already. He's best around 215lbs. Should a very exciting clash of styles with the winner becomeing a contender.

Boytsov hasn't fought a live opponent since Guinn early in 2012.

Chisora fought a poor opponent in April, but a good one in July. I'm thinking Chisora with his experience against very good opposition is better prepared for a real fight right now.

It's nice to see boytsov sign with sauerland. His career was stagnating with universum. 33 fights with only a couple of tests. Chisora is a big step up so we will see if boytsov is a contender or pretender. He is only 27 so i hope he can stay healthy long enough to answer some questions. Can he go a hard 12 rounds? can he take pressure from a bigger fighter? Is his power legit? Can he take a punch? How does he handle being cut? If dropped can he get up? Can he adjust & box if his opponent walks through his best punches? If the chisora fight happens then we will get some of those answers. After 33 fights we still don't know because his best opponent to date is dominick guinn...
