  • Comments Thread For: Dmitry Pirog Says He Will Soon Resume His Career

Former middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog (20-0, 15KOs) is ready to resume his career. Pirog's activity has taken a big hit due to injuries. He gave up his WBO title to accept a fight with WBA champion Gennady Golovkin, but withdrew after injuring his back. The problems continued to bother him in the comings months. He last fought in May 2012, winning a twelve round decision over Nobuhiro Ishida.

Pirog says the injuries are now fully headled and he plans to travel over to the United States to discuss his future. Pirog was promoted in the United States by Banner Promotions, but he never disclosed on who he plans to meet with.

        Thank fuck for that.

The Golovkin fight still needs to happen, and badly. I believe in this guy, but his lack of power following the Jacobs fight all those years ago concerns me a bit (especially how he couldn't put Ishida away in 12). Is he brave enough to stand there with his super-awkward style and trade with Kennedy Glove-king?

unfortunately, for his age its over for him. Don't see any reason he should be fighting GGG. with his injuries, he should stay in rehab center along with Vitaly

Great news! Hopefully he can stay healthy. No doubt if he does he can climb back to the top 5 at MW. Would love to see him against Golovkin, Quillin or Martinez. He may need a couple fights to get there, but if he's healthy he can hopefully be active.

The middleweight division is stacked, so many fights that could be made. It's about time they started making them.
