Super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire has been named Fighter of the Year for 2012 by the Boxing Writers Association of America. Donaire successfully defended his world title four times in 2012, the last two by stoppage, as he surged toward the top of most pound-for-pound fighter lists. It marks the fourth time in the last seven years that a boxer from the Philippines has won the BWAA's Sugar Ray Robinson "Fighter of the Year" award. Countryman Manny Pacquiao won in 2006, 2008, and 2009.

This is a good Awards this year, at least the rightful guys won.

Also I have to give fight of the year to Pacquiao vs. Marquez 4, it was a high level bout between two legends, on a world wide stage, had full drama, unpredictability and ebb and flow, and it LIVED UP TO THE HYPE AND BUILD UP.

Alvarado vs. Rios was action but Rios pretty much dominated the fight even though he took punches he was never hurt, if Alvarado could drop Rios and turn the tied it would have got fight o the year over Pacquiao, but if Pac vs. Jmm 4 never happened the way it did Rios vs. Alvarado should be fight of the year.
