Table Mountain Casino on Friant, California - A grudge rematch fought at the contracted limit of 150-pounds, Mia St. John (46-11-2, 18 KOs) got revenge by winning the vacant WBC junior middleweight title with a ten round unanimous decision over Christy Martin (49-7-3, 31 KOs) in a battle of female boxing legends. The scores were 97-93 and 96-94 twice. Martinez, 44, won a ten round decision over St. John, 45, nearly ten years ago. Both female fighters vowed to retire after the contest was over.

Is it bad that 10 years later these two, Ann Wolfe, and Layla Ali are still the only female boxers I recognize the names of? Those American women that won at the Olympics last week...already forgotten.

It must have been a dreadful fight to watch.

What PPV card did these two fight on originally? My memory might be off but I seem to remember these two being on an undercard at some point. Maybe it was Mia St John fighting someone else, but I'm pretty sure it was Christy Martin...google didn't seem to help either.

I think it was on Ali and Liston.

Figured it out...it was the undercard of De La Hoya-Trinidad.
