  • Comments Thread For: Anthony Mundine Likely To Face Xavier Toliver in June

Middleweight contender Anthony Mundine (41-4, 24 KO), fresh from his rematch win over Garth Wood (10-2-1, 6 KO), will likely return in a ten round bout on June 5 against Xavier Toliver (23-6, 15 KOs) at Waitakere's Trust Stadium in Henderson, New Zealand. For Mundine, it will be his first fight in New Zealand in eight years. Toliver fought most of his career near the welterweight limit and recently started fighting between junior middle and middleweight.

Exactly the sort of opponent you'd expect Mundine to be facing.

This is a ridiculous fight, Toliver should not have even been mentioned.

          WTF Mundine ?

How will Toliver lead to anything meaningful ?

He would barely qualify as a legit comeback opponent.

The biggest fight in NZ since Tua/Cameron

Let me guess, Mundine's camp justifies this claiming it will take him closer to a Cotto fight? Mundine is a joke. Has been for a while and has used this "big opponent on the horizon, bear with me while I beat these bums to get that fight" trick since he left super middleweight

You know, as much as Mundine is a complete **** douche bag in terms of who he fights, the fact is that his general attitude to fighting should be what every world class/champion level boxer needs.

The one single good thing about Mundine since he stopped fighting top class competition is that throughout his whole career he has fought, and still does, regularly four times a year, every year.

All champions should be doing that still. Other than that, he's a ****.
