Former champion Fernando Montiel of Mexico reflects back on last Saturday's awesome two-round knockout that he suffered against Filipino Nonito Donaire at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Fernando said "The punch wasn't by luck, but if you noticed he hit me with his eyes closed after I had gotten to him first."

The first half of the sentence is explicit in that he feels that Nonito was not lucky with that punch, but the second half of the sentence hints that it was by luck... Not sure what he means by that..

It's ironic. I think he meant that Nonito put all his power on that left hook to knock him out.

Whatever he means, I still admire him for accepting his defeat.

This guy is the man, to handle such a stunning loss like that in your biggest fight says alot about Fernando. I cant wait to see him in the ring again.

I love how Fernando has come back to the media spotlight right away, he didnt dissapear like P Will or Hatton did when they were knocked out in the second rounds of their fights. Or Nas when he was schooled by Marco and hid in a cave for the next 10 years next to Bin Laden.

It shows he has balls and is willing to accept that he was beaten by a better man that night and is happy to move on from this.

I always said from the start that Nonito will knock him out before 10 rounds (only 8 rounds off LOL) and I always wanted Nonito to win, but in losing, Montiel has just earned himself another fan, he has huge heart and is a classy dude.

Good luck to this dude in the future, I hope he comes back strong.
