Welterweight contender Lanardo Tyner was shocked in his own hometown when Andre Gorges won an eight round split decision at the Palace in Detroit, Michigan. Tyner started well, but it was Gorges who landed the better punches to outwork him in the mid rounds. The fight finished with some drama. Tyner nearly stopped him in the eight and final round. He hurt Gorges with right/left hand combos and almost put him away before the clock ran out. The scores were 77-74 Tyner, and 78-74 and 77-75 Gorges.
