  • Comments Thread For: DaVarryl Williamson Challenges Guillermo Jones For 12/17

In a recent piece on BoxingScene.com, the news was broken that WBA cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones was planning to make a move to the heavyweight division on the undercard of Don King's big event being planned for December 17 in Florida. DaVarryl Williamson, also promoted by King, has issued the below challenge to Jones. The "Touch of Sleep" is ready to test the cruiserweight champ in heavyweight waters.

Guillermo Jones will accept the challenge for sure, but there's no guarantee Don King will get it done.

    This card is looking decent:

    Austin vs. Solis
    Marrone vs. Madison
    Jones vs. TBA (possibly Williamson)
    Stiverne vs. TBA

I hope King also puts Lyakhovich on the card, but he'll likely just keep Sergiy on the shelf for another year of so.

SOlis and williamson on the same card?

WLadimir will need a diaper if he catches this fight on TV.

If this fight doesnt happen i want to see jones vs meehan!
the winner of this would be close for a title shot after ruslan chagaev gets his shot at haye

meehan hadn't fought for 2 years, and it showed, he took 8 rounds to start timing his punches better.

It looks like Williamson got his wish as he's listed as Jones' opponent on boxrec....

                  This is a decent matchup.

I wish King would add Lyakhovich to the card as well but he likely won't.

That is a very interesting fight, has Williamson been active? He isn't a world beater but can be good at times and is a dangerous opponent for an inactive fighter just moving up in weight.
