  • Comments Thread For: Luis Nery Calls Naoya Inoue 'Overrated, Overconfident and Ordinary'

Luis Nery is digging in his heels and embracing his role as the boogeyman who will blast and beat "The Monster." Nery (35-1, 27 KOs) will challenge Naoya Inoue (26-0, 23 KOs) for the undisputed junior featherweight championship on May 6 on ESPN+ at the Tokyo Dome in Japan in front of an expected crowd of over 50,000 fans.

Less boogeyman, more heel. Inoue will stop him.

Even if that were true, Nery won’t be the guy to expose that.

From what I understand Nery doesn’t live the fighter lifestyle. If he finds boxing boring then it’s probably best that he retire, Inoue will probably help him out the door I suspect.

I'm disappointed the Japanese are giving Nery the payday. Reversing a decision for the sake of vengeance can go very wrong. Maybe not in the ring, but in future situations.

He’s going to find inoue so boring that he’s going to take a little nap.

Monster in 5. Nery says he's bored with boxing. That's ok. Inoue will tuck him in for his nap around the 5th Round.

                Inoue's wins:
                #10 Ryoichi Taguchi
                #1 Adrian Hernandez
                #1 Omar Narvaez
                #8 Kohei Kono
                #5 Jamie McDonnell
                #5 Juan Carlos Payano
                #6 Emmanuel Rodriguez
                #4 Nonito Donaire (unification)
                #8 Jason Moloney
#2 Nonito Donaire (unification, lineal title fight)
                #8 Paul Butler (undisputed unification)
#1 Stephen Fulton (for the unified titles)
#2 Marlon Tapales (undisputed unification, lineal title fight)

All of these guys were current/former/future world titlists and all of them were ranked in the division he fought them in at the time of the fight (TBRB rankings used).

As far as active, undefeated fighters only Crawford is anywhere close to this resume. There are some older dogs out there but they all have losses and draws (Donaire, Chocolatito, Estrada, Ioka, Nietes, Canelo, etc).

Hopefully this goes 6, but either way, Nery will be completely outmatched
