  • Comments Thread For: A David Morrell Fight Was There for the Making - Why Didn't David Benavidez Bite?

In Monday's episode of ProBox TV's "Deep Waters," analysts and former world titleholders Timothy Bradley Jr. and Paulie Malignaggi take issue with fighters such as David Benavidez taking aim at boxing's biggest game at the expense of making viable fights with other contenders along the way.

Was there ever any serious talks cause this shlt is annoying. For two guys under the same umbrella or as spencerina would say "on the same street" this fight sure is hard to make. Or even keeping Morrell active

Why would he bite? He can fight for a title at LHW or fight a guy where even if he wins, does not really do much for him in getting a Canelo shot. Canelo is gonna do what he is gonna do regardless. If anything beating Morrell would make Canelo less likely to want to fight Beneviedez.

Bwahahahah why is David benevidez career defined by what canelo does? That’s literally so pathetic. Crying that canelo ducking him while clearly ducking morrel Jr lol. Pot call drunk kettle black lmao

Risk reward ratio. That's why no one is keen to fight Morrell, just like no one is begging to get a fight with Jaron Ennis.

Your making assumptions because your emotionally triggered by people pointing out the truth that Canelo ducking another man for the 3rd time in his pampered watered down spoonfed career

david morrell won’t even fight Ronald Gavril and turned down the fight twice so you can’t hide behind that made up assumption anymore it’s on camera

That is why he moved up, so it wouldn't be. At 168 there is nowhere bigger to go than a Canelo fight but since that doesn't appear to be something Canelo wants he can shoot for undisputed at 175, maybe cruiser run later.

He fought Plant. He fought Boo Boo. He’s taken his risks and fought some good names. Now he’s holding out for Alvarez. I don’t knock this at all.

So we're supposed to believe what Gavril says just like that? Not to mention that he's completely irrelevant and probably no better than the guy Morrell beat in his third pro fight.

Canelo doesn't want to fight Benavidez. Benavidez doesn't want to fight Morrell, or PBC doesn't want to make that fight. Morrell isn't looking to fight a dangerous challenger who brings nothing to the table either.
