  • Comments Thread For: Elijah Pierce Hoping Win Over Arthur Villanueva Will Set Up Naoya Inoue Fight

Junior featherweight Elijah Pierce has made no secret of his desire to fight Naoya Inoue. But Pierce (18-2, 15 KOs) is first set to fight Arthur Villanueva, on March 29 in Atlanta, in an Overtime Boxing event being broadcast by DAZN. Although Villanueva (35-4-1, 20 KOs) has lost only to top contenders and world champions in Luis Nery, Nordine Oubaali, Zolani Tete and McJoe Arroyo, Pierce is already thinking about the statement a win would make - and how it might push him a step closer to a much bigger fight.

This cat is delusional. The only part of his trip to Japan that would not be painful is cashing the check. As far as fighting The Monster , that's going to hurt.

Guy already lost to Cabrera and Sulaiman Segawa and he thinks he would ever even be in the running for a fight with Monster? He just wants the payday. Inoue, unlike some fighters, doesn't waste his time on low ranked fighters. He needs to beat Goodman, MJ, or maybe Casimero to even get in the running, and that's assuming he gets past this #227 ranked opponent. What delusion.

Pierce is a pretty good fighter, but seems a bit delusional and has been talking wild on social media.

Says he’s kills Inoue & Tank lol.
