  • Comments Thread For: Luis Alberto Lopez Quietly Becoming a Mexican Star

Luis Alberto Lopez was once considered a stepping stone for prospects and contenders, but he refused to play the role. Saturday at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, he'll fight Reiya Abe to defend his IBF featherweight title - and continue gaining the respect he deserves.

Venado, if he wins, should start going after the other belt holders. Guy is all action

Venado is akward, tough, and unafraid. Lets see how valiant this Japanese guy is.

Lopez is entertaining and a unorthodox fighter like Navarrete, but not sure he is all overall better than let's say Espinoza and Ramirez.

People sleeping on this dude bc of his late start to the sport and his close losses to Montoya and Villa, but he has done nothing but improve drastically since those times. His awkward style of combination punching and movement is looking better everytime out and he can punch. Not sure about most accomplished at 126, but he has been the epitome of a late bloomer that is just now really coming into his own. If he can get past Abe impressively, it'll be time to get after some these unifications on bc he has what it takes get it in with the other top guys in the division and possibly beat them.

Horrible style. A disciplined fighter with power & heart can beat this guy.

He looks so vulnerable but its an entertaining as **** style and hes been getting the results so far. Definitely one of the most exciting names in boxing right now.

I like Venado, he's entertaining and always willing to go in someone's back yard and take them on. I remember his fight against Andy Vences in which the judges gave him a razor thin split decision victory. I thought Vences edged the fight and, since Andy was the house fighter, was surprised when the judges gave it to Venado. He's been on an impressive run since...

                  Lopez is powerful,
His awkward 2-1 was giving Abe problems. He does have a bit strange timing and unorthodox combos, which makes him dangerous.

But damn he has god awful defense.
