I think its more about money than ego, every promotor and fighter wants all the bag ego/greed driven none of them will want a UFC model because they will get less money, the only way to change it is if the Government took control and made it law that all things boxing operate under a single entity, the horse has bolted going to be impossible to change it now.

The UFC model sucks. They don't even promote every weight class and if they decide not to pay someone then a guy like Ngannou can just walk and be totally cut off from the rest of the quality heavyweight fighters. As much as Top Rank vs PBC vs Matchroom vs Queensberry vs Golden Boy is tiresome and awful, interpromotional fights do get made. Ain't no UFC vs Bellator/PFL cards in the works, that's for damn sure.

Yeah, the "UFC" model is pay 17-18% to athletes as opposed to the 50-60% common in most sports and currently has a billion dollar antitrust case approaching trial.

You only want a UFC model if you don't give a f*#k about the fighters, not that boxing's model is perfect, far from it, but the UFCs isn't the answer.

Its not a ego thing its a money thing.

If some billionaire jumped into boxing they could probably create a UFC-like model with pay staying high like it is now while making all the fights ppl wanna see. The egos of the promoters around now wouldn't matter cuz they'd be bought outright or slowly lose guys as contracts end lowering their eventually price to be bought out.

In the end the athlete is getting exploited in both sports 90% of the time. Both models are flawed there’s gotta be something better

You make it sound like all fighters in boxing are treated the same. The pay disparity between undercard to main is hyuuuge. It's not like the resources in boxing are spread around. Boxing only focuses on the main card, thus a huge percentage of the fund goes straight to it. And undercards in boxing usually suck. While in UFC the undercards almost look like main cards and entertaining. I see UFC fighters with multiple loses keep coming back to fight, men, women...

The UFC model is breaking down tbh. It worked back in the day when MMA was an up and coming sport and the UFC had a tiny roster and 10-20 cards a year. Now they have a gigantic roster, cards practically every weekend and the fighters are wanting to get paid like boxers and often trying to call shots on who they fight. Its not sustainable. A lot of the advantages the UFC had over boxing 15 years ago arent really there anymore.

AEW is basically the UFC model. Random nobodies get 10x what they would get anywhere else. Because the guy funding it is a money mark.

That’s what Don King basically was at his peak. That’s what doesn’t exist anymore.
