  • Comments Thread For: Jamaine Ortiz: I Said Teofimo Lopez Gets Frustrated, He Can't Control Himself

Jamaine Ortiz (17-2-1, 8 KOs) had his big test last Thursday night. In his first world title fight against WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs), the Technician executed his fight plan by darting in and out, and using movement and speed to frustrate Lopez. The only thing Ortiz didn't do was win a decision in the eyes of the judges.

It's a good way to bore the audience to death. But yeah, it's also a tactic to frustrate the opponent.

Running away also frustrates the fans

Ortiz won the boxing match but didn't win the "fight" or win the fans over.

Yeah, he got frustrated as any fighter and the fans would've. Now, go sit on the bench next to Shakur Stevenson, Richardson Hitchins and other forgotten fighters that fought that way!

It's pretty incredible how bad the average poster on this forum is. Remember Pacquiao-Mosley? Why was that boring as hell? Because Pacquiao couldn't cut the ring off or be effective offensively when Mosley was moving. Remember Mayweather-Mosley? Very entertaining.

Lopez doesn't have a real boxing coach. He got beat because he couldn't cut the ring off. Then they gave him the decision. It's pathetic.

You people put too much weight on this can't cut the ring off stupid nonsense as if it's easy to do when the opponent is hell-bent on not getting punched in the face. Take it from Andre Ward responding to Bradley, "It's easier said than done."

The issue is that Teo didn't even try. He didn't try because he doesn't know how to apply front foot pressure. Multiple things can be true here.
