  • Comments Thread For: Bohachuk-Fundora: WBC Approves Interim Title Fight; No Mandatory Named For Jermell Charlo

Sebastian Fundora could once again challenge for the interim WBC title, though not in a bid to avenge his lone career defeat. A ruling was made during the 61st annual WBC convention that would allow Fundora to re-enter the interim title mix. It would come versus Serhii Bohachuk in lieu of a previously contracted rematch versus Brian Mendoza against whom he suffered a stunning seventh-round knockout defeat this past April to abruptly end his secondary title reign.

Fundora gets KO'ed, and his return opponent is a lanky puncher.

There is no point having so-called "undisputed" and "unified" champions if we end up with 'interim' titles as well. Just strip and move on, force the boxers to fight more frequently if they want to hold the belts.

You got to be the dumbest white dude in here to be this f'ing stupid. Somebody needs to revoke your whiteboy card to think that the Charlo's or any black fighter anywhere on the planet, especially with the opinions in Boxing Scene, can have dirt on the dirtiest organization in all of f'ing boxing. Obviously WBC is not run by white fools I read in Boxing Scene like you.

Ofc not, cuz WBC, just like WBA & IBF, is totally in Haymon's pocket.
And despite all that competitive advantage, provided by those 3 corrupt organizations, mofo still lost 2 broadcast deals in 2 years.
Not bad for a "Harvard scholar".

“I would like to propose the WBC approves Conwell to fight the highest available contender in a final elimination bout, to challenge for either the interim champion or the world champion of the time.”

Would rather see Charlo vs. Conwell than Murtazliev!

lol has to be grade A dirt man.

For once though, I’m with the WBC here. Hate it when a fighter is undisputed/unified and multiple sanctioning bodies enforce their mandatories at the same time. The IBF made it clear they’re coming after Mell next. If WBC followed suit, he’d get stripped of yet another belt for doing nothing wrong really.

I would love to see Conwell get a big fight, but he just needs to fight period. Sitting out all 2023 was not good for his career.
