  • Comments Thread For: Tommy Fury on Win Over KSI: It Was a Horrible Watch, He Was Holding The Whole Fight!

Light heavyweight prospect Tommy Fury (10-0, 4 KOs) expected an ugly affair in last Saturday's crossover boxing match with social media star KSI. Before a packed house in Manchester, Fury won an eight round unanimous decision - handing KSI his first defeat in a boxing ring. Fury was coming off an eight round split decision win over Jake Paul, who also suffered his first blemish in the sport.

Ref need to start taking point for clinching. It's making boxing boring. If they want to clinch/hug/grab they need to join MMA. It's obvious which boxer is actively seeking to clinch.

It was terrible. KSI would lunge in with his head down then bury his head for the clinch.
Fury tried to fight out but with his head dropped he ended up getting a point taken for hitting in the back of the head. A more skilled fighter would have timed him up and made him pay with an accurate body shot or uppercut.

KSI deserved that L. Glad I didn’t pay for it.

if a fighter is intent on clinching after a punch. there's 0 punishment that can be timed, because any counter is already smothered.

you need distance to throw a punishing shot. The whole point of a clincher is to smother your work.

You can only be held if you want to be.. there's no reason a grown man would let another grown man "hug" them if they didn't hug back..

Start using your legs and angles, and stop with these excuses after you fail to knockout novices..

And there's nothing "traditional" about boxing. Maybe "robotic", but plenty of former and current boxers don't just stand there and trade punches.. there's a whole saying: "stick and move"...

STFU U ABSOLUTE DOG SHYT OF A PRO BOXER. I did not think a fight could get worse then t.furys vs j.paul, but this made that fight seem half decent. T.Fury is a fraud with miniscule boxing ability. He would never win a british title let alone anything else. Zero skill & boxing knowledge, bigger stronger guy whos claimed "ive been boxing all my life".. never once used his strength to even try push ksi off and work or turn any angles... NOTHING! Hugfested his way to 2 very close wins vs 2 youtubers. Pathetic! Hes made his money hope he FOOKZ off from all public and social media boxing scenes.

KSI is not only an obsessive hugger but a very unskilled one, so there are plenty of ways to counter this but Tommy isnt skilled enough.

A skilled fighter can use that against him though. Use footwork and feints to set traps and put him where he wants him for a counter. A more skilled fighter would have KSI reacting to him rather than waiting to avoid him lunging in and getting caught up.

                  are you watching you dumbazz

                  what could Bika do here?

if guy throws a punch and misses, he's automatically on you to hold. they smother your work.

there's no way around that. it's a foul in boxing for a reason.

And a skilled fighter can neutralize that by using footwork to turn him so he’s reacting instead of waiting to lunge in. A skilled fighter can throw them different looks and use timing to know when they are lunging in to counter.
Tommy Fury is not a world class fighter and doesn’t have the speed and footwork that a world class fighter at that weight wound have to use that strategy against them.
He got caught in so many clinches because he’s a lower level fighter.
