Four-division champion Canelo Alvarez has beaten a who's who of credible contenders throughout a 63-fight career that started in 2005. Alvarez's hit list includes wins against the likes of Gennady Golovkin (two wins; one draw), Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders,

Lets be honest, if you follow boxing you know that Sergey Kovalev was past prime, drinking in camp, in the middle of an expensive law suit and needed money. By the Time Canelo fought Kovalev he was living off past accomplishments, a shell of the man that fought Andrea Ward. Frankly, Plant, Jacobs, Callum and Saunders were better wins, they were all in their prime and had time to train. Those were far better wins than beating a once was just looking for a payday on the way out.

Picked Kovalev mainly bc of size difference. The biggest win of his career was Cotto IMO bc of the fact that it began the Canelo era of boxing and he did it by defeating the last elite, HOF fighter of the previous generation of stars(excluding Pacquiao bc of the weight difference). The second Golovkin fight was probably his most satisfying win due to the claims of him avoiding Golovkin prior to the first fight, the controversy surrounding the first fight and the way came out and fought the second fight. All just my opinion. With all the big wins on his resume, this whole argument will garner all kinds of debate.

Best win was GGG draw! Everyone expected for GGG to take Canelo’s head off, and GGG didn’t even hurt him. All boxers at Canelo’s level had a past prime win vs an elite fighter. Oscar had Chavez who was 99 fights when he first beat him,Pacquiao had Oscar who was always coked out during training, Floyd had Carlos Baldomir, not a great fighter but an old washed up warrior. That’s boxing, you can’t fight first contender every fight.

Canelo has way more past prime guys on his resume than anybody

          Cotto 36
          Kovalev 36
          Floyd 36
          Mosley 40
          GGG 35, 36, 40
          Baldomir 39

That's 8 fights worth of washed opponents

35 and 36 yr old GGG and Floyd weren’t washed. I’d agree with everyone else though.

Everyone was expecting a fun competitive fight. That’s why it was generating so much buzz. It was the main event for true boxing fans while others were focused on Mayweather/McGregor. There would have been extremists on both sides predicting a knockout but there always is.
There was roughly a decade long stretch where Floyd and Manny fans predicted devastating KO’s before every fight (including against each other LMAO). In reality they both combined for like 3 stoppages of any kind lol.

A much more interesting question is what is canelos best win against a fighter under 30yrs of age.
Under 30 Austin trout. One of the rare decent fighters and maybe the only champ under 30.
Over 30 Erislandy Lara. controversial but Lara doesnt get his due's and wasnt way over 30 and coming up in weight.

Problem with Canelo and GGG was they could only fight who was available and there was no one anywhere near as good as they were except each other.
The promoters made sure we never got to see a prime GGG vs Canelo. Same as Floyd Pac or Bud Errol or a million other prime fights.
Prime beef ended in the ninety's.
