  • Comments Thread For: Bivol Questions Canelo's Negotiating Tactics, Says It Was Wrong to Demand Catchweight Against Badou Jack

Dmitry Bivol apparently has a low opinion of Canelo Alvarez's bargaining maneuvers. The WBA light heavyweight titlist from Russia criticized the Mexican superstar for seemingly employing "bait and switches" and demanding unreasonable catchweights.

Nobody cares about your opinion. Just fight Beterbiev already.

I'm glad that Bivol and other fighters are beginning to see through Cinnabon's desperate attempts to have every advantage possible, finding the least risk, and still holding his belts and the weight class hostage as he does so. Sometimes, money isn't everything, especially when you can be greater in the future for seeing past the temptation of the immediate.

Like it was posted earlier, money isn't everything for some of the better fighters. Bivol is one of the better fighters today. Canelo knows that he is the cash king and feels like he can negotiate fights with other fighters mainly champions on his own terms. I like the fact that these champions give him the middle finger and tell him where to go. If more fighters did that these days to Canelo, then he would fight guys like David Benavidez on even terms at super middleweight and take bigger risks. He is a good but not great fighter who has clearly faded that is trying to build his legacy by fighting champions from other weight classes on his own terms to pad his legacy.

Yes, Canelo is now a businessman aka Money Alvarez! He has a long memory! I remember when a big name was ready to fight Floyd at 154 but, not Canelo..it's all about the $ and fighters learned to go for the $ bag asap. Sadly the sport is to shady to risk doing otherwise and the fans loose.

You think it's just like flipping a switch and the fight will happen. That fight is not happening because of politics, plain and simple. Everyone knows that and we should also care about his opinion since he's part of this whole thing, he's relevant to the situation

100% facts. Canelo is dodging Benavidez Morrell n Bivol @168 wanted to weight drain badou by 20lbs and only interested in middleweights @168 Charlo Mugunia Andrade Spence ain't even 160. His max to be competitive is 154. Canelo is most likely to fight Charlo Spence n Andrade. Finish out his contract then fight berlanga @168 in a Puerto Rico vs Mexican showdown the weakest of natural 168ers . Then probably retire against Mugunia or huge if possible Beterbiev if around and champ because of age & Canelo wants a shot @175 just willing to pay. He ain't fighting Morrell jr unless Saudis put up huge money. That's for sure Morrell to quick got power huge reach advantage strong. Can fight coming toward yet cause Cuban 100% sure he knows how to fight off his back foot which is deadly honestly. That boy Roy Jones jr potential.

Bitter that him and his team blew the Canelo bag. Thought Canelo amd his team would come back to the table with a better offer instead they moved on to pbc. The guy hasn't fought this year wiating on that Canelo cheque now they're instead getting a cheque about 1/20 of the amount if they accepted the terms the a side canelo offered them

The fights not happening because team Canelo flat out don’t believe he can beat Bivol. I agree with them.
