Regis Prograis returned home to a hero's welcome. He left with his title barely--but still--intact. The two-time and reigning WBC junior welterweight titlist turned away a crafty challenge from late replacement opponent Danielito Zorrilla in his first title defense. Judge Craig Metcalfe (114-113) ruled for the visiting Puerto Rican, overruled by judges Robert Tapper (118-109) and Josef Mason (117-110) as Prograis claimed a split decision win in their DAZN-aired main event Saturday from Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

World Boxing Council super lightweight champion, Regis Prograis, will defend his title against Puerto Rican boxer Danielito Zorrilla, on Saturday June 17 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. (photos by Ed Mulholland, Melina Pizano)

Prograis (28-1, 24 KOs) became the 140-pound world champion by knocking out Jose Zepeda in 11 rounds at Dignity Health in California last November.

3 fights on the BFB portion. Aponte vs Madrid should be pretty good

Can tell Fruto is tough, but he’s out of his depths here

Fruto makes him work, but should be 4-0 UD for Bazaluda. Only 18, and apparently he’s one of Ortiz Jr’s sparring partners.

Definitely has potential. Keep him active

Aponte hasn’t really improved much from the first time I saw him to now

Point deducted from Aponte for low blow. No warnings. Could play a factor in the decision
