  • Comments Thread For: Josh Taylor: Prograis Rematch Would've Been Easy To Make Had He Gone With Top Rank

Josh Taylor considers Regis Prograis the second-best fighter in the 140-pound division. The unbeaten WBO junior welterweight champion would welcome a rematch with Prograis at some point. The Scottish southpaw just can't understand why Prograis didn't sign with Taylor's promoter, Top Rank Inc., if Prograis expects an opportunity to avenge his lone loss sooner than later.

It annoys the living f out of me that somehow it is difficult or impossible to make fights between guys that are with different promoters. If a fight is a good fight, the public want it, both boxers will get paid & so will the promoters. If you go back to the 1980s King & Arum hated each other like rat poison, but they collaborated on huge fights. There was no way Bob & Don were so dumb that they'd let a huge cash cow, say, Chavez v Meldrick, not happen just because of their antipathy.

It's extremely annoying, and they're all holding the sport back with this bs.

It's comical to see Taylor and Prograis hang around at 140 forever to avoid moving up to 147. They know they'd get crushed at 147.

PBC have most of the 147lb’ers, and getting the PBC guys to fight is nigh impossible. Might aswell stay drained at 140.

              Interesting.

Taylor says this, they blame Prograis, but when Crawford did the same thing, it's Al Haymon's fault.

As is sadly so often the case, BlackRobb makes zero sense. Taylor is killing himself making 140 & should step up. Prograis says he is comfortable at 140. I would never suggest a fighter step out of the division they are comfortable in, unless the money or the prestige made it a no-brain call. I mean, RJJ stepping up to fight Ruiz or SRL stepping up to fight Hagler, yes, that makes sense. Right now, why would Regis move? If Crawford beat Spence or v/v, & the winner offered Regis a crack at the title then, yes, but not otherwise.
