By Keith Idec - Andre Ward wouldn't come back for one more fight no matter how much money he was offered. There were times during a retirement that is into its sixth year when Ward wondered whether he walked away from the ring too soon. That thought never enters Ward's head these days as the father of five dotes on his children and enjoys his job as an analyst for ESPN's boxing broadcasts.

Despite the Controversy of their two fights, his performances in the Kovalev fights were my favorite parts of his career. Down on the canvas early against a guy that was #2 p4p and an absolute killer at that time in Sergey, Virgil hunters pep talk, then Ward putting on a gutsy comeback showing all types of intricate skills to Knick it and IMO being unfairly chastised in a fight that could've gone either way... Then the rematch. Which both guys came with better game plans and put on an amazing fight. Kovalevs piston Jabs, Andres much improved footwork/ body attack, and that right hand that spelled the end...the stoppage wasn't great tbh. But once again the fallout because of some belt line shots, took away from what was an excellent performance from both.

Overrated as fighter. Resume filled with euro bums, dehydrated Dawson and a gift over kovalev. Oh yeah and headbutting the shlt out of Kessler.

Ward was a great fighter. He's a winner. Ward was on his way to TKOing Kovalev - who was looking for a way out. But Ward gave Kovalev a way to quit without it clearly being a quit. It took a way from the win. If Ward had 2-3 more meaningful wins, we couldn't debate his greatness.

"Unfiltered". And the headline picture is the worst filter ever.

He gets a lot of hate but a great fighter. Most people thought he was going to get destroyed by Krusher possibly seriously hurt after Kovalev was brutalising everyone in his path but in fact his skills and a few dark arts tactics were enough to eek out the first and then with confidence dominate the rematch

Tony weeks gifted him a low blow stoppage as the best win of his career & he got a gift decision in the first fight. American sven ottke imo.

I don't care about his legacy because him, Bradley and Tessitore make me have to mute fights. They suck the life out of fights for me. They are as biased or more biased than any announcers out there. They suck.

Terrible fight style. Unwatchable. No idea why he is so hyped. He beat Kovalev literally hitting him in the balls.
