Oscar Collazo was more than ready Saturday night for a world champion despite his lack of professional experience. The powerful, skillful southpaw battered Melvin Jerusalem over the final four rounds of their fight and stopped him after a one-sided seventh round at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. After absorbing a lot of body shots, Jerusalem told referee Ray Corona that he didn't want to continue after the seventh round of their WBO minimumweight championship match on the Alexis Rocha-Anthony Young undercard.

Predictable result. The two Thais are the division's elite. The other two belts pass from hand to hand.

Chris Mannix and Mora were hanging off of Jerusalem's nuts until Collazo started Poliaxing the body. I gave Melvin the first and that's it. Collazo, needs work. But looks quite dangerous when he's in a groove.

It looked like Jerusalum was going to outpoint, or cut up Collazo with his jab to successfully defend his title early in the fight.
Collazo hung tough like a true warrior, and started breaking down Jerusalum with body punches, knocking the fight right out of him.

Puerto Rico has another champ in Oscar Collazo who just broke a record at the division becoming world champ with the least amount of fights. Gotta feel bad for Erick Rosa (5-0) since he was very close being the interim champ.

I am not very well versed on this division since the big promotions rarely stream the fights from the top contenders. but I do know that if Valladares is any good, it could produce another classic.
