  • Comments Thread For: Leigh Wood Watched Lara KO Over 40 Times: I Know I Can Put it Right!

By Declan Taylor - Leigh Wood reckons he has watched his seventh-round defeat to Mauricio Lara 'over 40 times' and is adamant he knows how to put it right 14 weeks later. The Gedling man was dropped heavily by a left hook in the seventh of their encounter on February 18 and his coach Ben Davison threw in the towel to end the fight with less than 10 seconds left of the round.

He watched it over 40 times like how people watch gram videos over and over again. He knew that ish was nice. Jokes aside, he was the better fighter, but all it took was one mistake. Lara has that type of power that will always have him in the fight no matter what's happening. If Wood can avoid getting nailed with a big shot like that in the rematch, he'll get his back.

He has to be perfect for 12 rounds whereas lara has to be perfect for one second.

In all likelihood he’s toast again. Time and time again the brits underestimate the craftiness of the Mexican unorthodox style. They think they can box their heads off from a distance just to find themselves on their butts once inside the ring.

He can outbox Lara in enough spots, but if Mauricio hits him with a big one again, it could be another ko.

Lara can clearly be outboxed, he lacks in skills but his hands are fast enough to create issues to a fighter. The problem with Wood is that he does have skills but he gets hit a lot. He has to make this fight as boring as he can if he wants to win. He has to be the Matador.

Watch it 10 more times, or 100.

The result will be the same.

On the contrary! After reading his comments, we can clearly see he does't understand, and didn't learn anything.. Another overhyped British boxer going back to sleep after a wake up call.

Overhyped? Why is every single British fighter called overhyped by some of you guys, ffs. Just silly.

Leigh Wood was well into his 30's until he started making real money as a prizefighter.

He is what he is and he understands this opponent. Whether he can beat him or not is another thing.
