  • Comments Thread For: Derrick James Shoots Down Frank Martin vs. Keyshawn Davis: "What's The Point Of That Fight?"

Despite being in the genesis of his career, Keyshawn Davis isn't exactly interested in taking the slow and meticulous route up the lightweight ladder. Despite having only a handful of bouts underneath his belt, the former Olympic silver medalist has continued to call out a bevy of top-tier names, in particular, Frank Martin.

Well Derrick, around NSB there's a notion that hyped fighters should fight each other right away because it's a test, and that the promoter should be nice and understanding that losses are fine and you can still make something of them. But for now, certain people are trying to validate their 'eye test' result.

    That's why.

Disgraceful! Martin ain’t nothing but a duck talking all that BS about wanting all the smoke with the heavy hitters @ lightweight while letting his team make excuses for ducking these fighters. Dude is older than most of these 135 lbs time is now for him not later.

Floyd "Kid Austin" Schofield has been calling out Davis for over a year! They're both at the same point in their careers. I think that would be more realistic. That being said, if Spence and Crawford finally meet, Martin vs. Davis would be an outstanding co-main event!

Frank Martin should be targeting Issac Cruz, William Zepeda, Shakur Stevenson, and Tank Davis!

Keyshawn's targets should be Schofield, Jamaine Ortiz, and Ray Muratalla!

Derrick James has a point. He’s right. Keyshawn needs more experience in the pro ranks and time to develop because he is yet too green.

He isn’t seasoned enough for Frank Martin at this time. He has to ripen first. A loss at this point could really jeopardize and devastate his young career.

That kind of attitude from James is why good fights don't get made, even though I do understand that he's somewhat correct from a business point of view.

Someone should ask James why his fighters never fight. Spence, Martin, charlo. Once a year if not longer.

This is the correct answer. Especially Frank Martin vs. Zepeda.

Derrick James is being both disingenuous, and honest at the same time, because although K. Davis fighting F. Martin right now would be rushing K. Davis career.
The point is that it's an intriguing fight, one that would be action packed, and the fan's would love to see that fight take place sooner rather than later.
James also sound"s a bit nervous, as if he know's that while K. Davis is still a novice in the professional rank's, he can fight, has KO power, and has an extensive amateur career.
Besides all of that K. Davis is so confident in his abilities, that he's calling out F. Martin, in order to apply pressure on him through social media to take the fight against him.
One last statement if Floyd "Kid Austin" Schofield, has been calling out Keyshawn Davis out for over a year, K. Davis should accept that fight first, before calling some else out.
Davis is essentially doing to Martin, what Schofield is doing to him, so he should take care of first thing's first.
Davis is a damn good fighter, and so are Schofield, and Martin, all working their way up to their shot's at the title.
Any pairing of these fighter's against each other would be great fight's for the boxing fan's to watch.
