  • Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia: Approximately 1.2M PPV Buys; $22.8M In Ticket Revenue

The Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia fight did even bigger business than those involved in the event expected. BoxingScene.com has learned that their Showtime Pay-Per-View main event generated approximately 1.2 million buys in the United States. Most insiders interviewed by BoxingScene.com before Davis' seventh-round knockout of Garcia projected that it would produce anywhere between 450,000 and 750,000 buys, which still would've been a success based on the state of the boxing pay-per-view business in the U.S.

, where the gate was $22.8 million, per sources, in what appears to be a big commercial success. That's likely to come in as the fifth best gate in Nevada fighting history.

Great news. Hopefully this sets a precedent for young starts to actually fight each other in their primes rather than “marinating” until they’re both in their mid 30’s and ready to cash out.

i think it sets a precedent that you dont have to actually figth anyone good to become a star. you dont have to actually fight top guys to become a star. you just wait till you see an easy mark that is popular and fight them. its just one step away from fighting logan paul. garcia was an actual boxer, and an ok one, but with all the weight shenanigans, result was never in doubt. next time will it even be a boxer? will it be an mma fighter? small japanese boy? some celeb/influencer?

Definitely fought at the right time and honestly they can fight again in a few years in another big event.

If true which is very sus Ryan was responsible for around 80% of those numbers.

Tank needs a guy like Ryan if not he we will never do huge numbers. But watch ppl say it was all Tank when they know damn well it wasn't

TANK will never do more than 350k without a guy like Ryan that's a fact.

has Ryan ever been on Ppv? I’m not saying Ryan didn’t help bring in those big numbers because he definitely did but why did take for him to fight tank to finally be on Ppv? They both have a following that’s why not just Ryan.
