  • Comments Thread For: Caleb Plant: "This The Best Caleb Plant Anyone Will Ever See"

Three world title defenses and a sparkling undefeated record convinced Caleb Plant that he was the best super middleweight around. His bravado and inordinate amount of self-belief, however, did little to help him during his undisputed clash against Canelo Alvarez.

One of the best style matchups of the year for sure. Add to that some genuine bad blood and this is a can't miss fight.

Yeah well it better be or there's a high possibility of being brutally KTFO, which may occur regardless because Benavidez is really a LHW....

I don't think David Benavidez has ever fought anyone with the skills of Plant. He must know this. He's gotten a lot of victories by way of his size and reach. But he's amazingly strong too. Very aggressive style. There are ways to beat him. No one has shown that yet. It remains to be seen if Plant can figure him out and win. Tall task for Plant.

This guy will give benavidez lot problems come march 25th. If anybody has style to beat benny its Plant.

            # Benavidez leaves a lot of openings when he really goes for an opponent - something that Plant could take advantage of.

            # Has Plant learned anything from his fight with Canelo and has Breadman helped him to "close" the openings that Canelo took advantage of?

            # Benavidez is a very large guy for 168lbs. So if he doesn't make the weight right, he could easily be weakened - rather like Callum Smith was against Canelo.

There's so many IFs & BUTs to this match-up - a really interesting fight - such a shame UK fans can't watch it live.

Definitely wouldn't call David "amazingly" strong. He's an accumulation guy. He's never really sparked guys out with one shot. He's also not physically strong either. He's always letting smaller guys close the distance on him and push him into the ropes. He couldn't even knock out canelo's literal sparring partner Ronald Ellis. David's power is extremely overrated. To be 100% real I think plant has more one punch power than David. He actually stuns and hurts guys with single shots quite often.

Theres no question that Caleb is the more skilled fighter. The only remaining question is whether or not he has the durability to last 12 rounds. He's got stamina issues and tends to get lazy as the fight goes on. And this will give David many openings. But if caleb can stay sharp I wouldn't be surprised to see him give David a boxing lesson and maybe even knock him out. David is not the guy everybody thinks. Very persistent but also very flat footed with subpar defense and no head movement.

Lol at all these fake plant skills. Since when is plant anything other than a redballs leftover cherry pick.

Add to that, Benevidez may or may not be all he's cracked up to be.

Perhaps that maybe. Who has Benavidez beat that can be viewed as better than Plant?
It’s one thing to dissect a fight based on the obvious intangibles and competition BUT to scoff and mock Plant is just hate. Is all.
