  • Comments Thread For: Michel Rivera Remains Under Temporary Suspension By NSAC Following Positive Drug Test From Frank Martin Fight

A probable suspension awaits Michel Rivera following the first loss of his pro career. The Dominican lightweight remains under indefinite suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which BoxingScene.com confirmed stems from a positive drug test surrounding his lopsided defeat to Frank Martin last December 17 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Rivera tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide and triamterene, both of which are on the banned list under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code.

Stop it! We don't talk about this.
Rather write something about Connor Benn. He's the real problem.

When it comes to dudes that don't speak or understand English well, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt to a certain extent just bc you never know what people in their camp might be up to. But it's up to the fighter to question and do their research on what they're given to take to avoid these types of situations. Must be time to move up to 140 for him.

Diuretics certainly aren't the worst offence but it's still cheating. To lose so wide and then be suspected of PEDs is basically doubling down on the disappointment.

To think of what is normally found in a body after coming up positive for a banned substance, It doesn't appear like he was purposely trying to cheat.

Didn't know he tested positive for two different steroids. His nickname will likely be changed from "La Zarza" to "La Farsa" by the public.

Yeah, they weren't steroids but it's okay if you can't read a small English article...

Someone's a cheat in that camp, whether it's the fighter, the trainer, someone else, or all of them.
If he doesn't fire someone over this positive test for banned substance's, then it wasn't a mistake.

A Diuretic? Like tea? Thinking about it, I can see how that would give him sort of an advantage by being able to squeeze down to 135. I suppose he'll have to go up to 140 now.

Of course, it's very bad pr for his career after taking a loss like that - plus, a lot of people seeing the headlines will assume it was hardcore steroid use and label him a cheat. Well, I guess he is a cheat if these drugs enabled him to fight in a division he otherwise would not have been able to...
