  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Says Joshua vs. Franklin Is 'Gonna Be a Great Fight,' Lashes Out at 'Haters'

Eddie Hearn apparently has no patience these days for anyone lampooning the frontrunner to become Anthony Joshua's next opponent. Jermaine Franklin, the heavyweight contender from Saginaw, Michigan, is slated to face London's Joshua, the former unified heavyweight champion, in April.

Joshua needs 2 good camps with James. The fight is fine.

So what if people had Franklin winning vs Whyte, it doesn't mean Franklins suddenly a great fighter.
Dillian Whyte is ****ing ****e and Franklin isn't much if any better.
In fact probably worse because despite having slightly better fundamentals he has zero pop at all. At least Whyte has that equaliser to a certain extent.

Just a tune up/stay busy fight for AJ
If AJ has any real issues vs Franklin in all honesty he should just hang them up.

AJ would be fighting a Joyce or Wilder or someone
And Franklin would be getting beaten down by Dubois, Mamuhdov or some up coming prospect who would likely blast through him in 6 rather uncompetitive rounds showing Whyte how a decent big HW should be dealing with your Franklins of the world.

But its boxing and all we get served up is cold **** on a plate

I wouldn't dislike this fight if had happened in December, when AJ was claiming he'd be ready for a Fury fight. You had 2 losses and an emotional rant and want to get back in the ring ASAP to put it behind you, makes some sense. But instead the fight happens in April. Crap fights seem a lot more crap when you only fight once every 8 months. Also worry that they're building towards AJ-Whyte II which is another weak fight.

It's a garbage fight, but it's what AJ needs to try to recover his broken brain

It may end up being an entertaining, competitive fight; it would tell us how far AJ has fallen as opposed to the quality of his opponent.
