  • Comments Thread For: Beterbiev vs. Bivol Could Be Pushed Back To 2024, Says Bob Arum

At this stage in his career, aggregating world titles is of the utmost importance to Artur Beterbiev. Having ripped away the WBO light heavyweight crown from the clutches of Joe Smith Jr., the newly turned 38-year-old is now just one belt away from achieving his longtime dream.

Bivol already said he wants Beterbiev next. Canelo is fighting in May, most likely, and not against Bivol. So, if Beterbiev vs Bivol doesn't get made next, the blame should go to Arum and Hearn.

Would be amazing to see Bivol say f*** the money, f*** Canelo, I want the legacy fight with Beterbiev next.

Never gonna happen though, hopefully we get the fight by 2024 at the latest.

It all really lands on Hearn. Hearn could potentially ruin the momentum of the fight by begging and dragging bivol to 168 and get robbed against carnelo.

Bob arum is making it quite clear he doesnt want to make this fight. We're in January there is more tha enough time to make both fights.

These two should lock their promoters up and sign a contract on a napkin ....

Beterbiev is 38 but he’s fairly low mileage, hasn’t taken a lot of damage. Arum thinks he’s still too high risk. Maybe next year, maybe not even then. I hate that.

This is going to one of the fights where the “best before” date expires long before the fight happens. The fighters should speak up, vehemently demanding that these important fights take place. Too many fighters and promoters are only competing to acquire the most money for the least effort and risk. Make the big fights and boxing will be healthy again. When boxing becomes healthy there will be more money for everyone who works in the industry. The greatest sport has become the most frustrating sport!
