Mexican star Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete and Australian contender Liam Wilson will fight for the vacant WBO junior lightweight world title Friday, Feb. 3, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Navarrete, the reigning WBO featherweight world champion, hopes to become the 10th Mexican-born boxer to win world titles in three weight divisions.

How is Wilson ranked 3 WBO when he’s only got 11 Ws fighting only in Australia??

The WBO number 1, Archie Sharp, doesn't have a much better record. Slightly odd how he's (a) been passed over and (b) how he got there in the first place. Agree it's a bit weird Wilson's up there as well. Probably a reasonably easy night for Navarette.

Do like the co-feature though, Pedraza's established himself as a solid gatekeeper. If Barboza's got titlist potential, I'd expect a clear decision win - if he's more fringe contender it'll be very close. Wonder if whatever kept Pedraza out of the Teo bout (whether he was told to pull out or not) might have taken something out of him though.

Pretty poor card. A featherweight against a novice for a 130 pound belt? Barboza deserves a better opponent than Pedraza. Pedraza hasn't won a meaningful fight in a long time and two weights ago. Some gullible fans may think this is a good card, but I guess when you get fed this kind of crap constantly, you come to accept it. Not me. I'll pass.

Not too long ago that was a good looking fight card and now it is just blah.

Don't really know who Wilson is, but I am glad Navarrete is back after such an unactive year. Plus, there is going to be prospects like Richard Torrez and Emiliano Vargas participating. Pedraza rarely wins any significant fight, so I am guessing Barboza just wins this fight by unanimous decision.

Would've preferred to see Navarette beat Valdez. Pedraza vs. Barboza is good for both at their stages of their careers.

I like how these Aussies hit the road when they need to. That's all the time. Even from way back, Lionel Rose. I'm a big fan of road warriors.

I'm rooting for Wilson. Navarette is tip toeing through the tulips. He's up for best cherry picker of the year, in my book. Sadly, he has strong competition.

Did Sharp pass on the fight? Would’ve preferred Bell or Roach over this Wilson guy..
