  • Comments Thread For: Shields-Marshall, Mayer-Baumgardner Weigh-In Results From London

Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner can't get in the ring soon enough. The best two junior lightweights in the world had to be physically retrained for the third time in as many days, both exchanging words and light shoves after making weight for their unified championship clash. Both boxers weighed 129.3 pounds for their lineal/WBC/IBF/WBO junior lightweight championship, which takes place Saturday evening at The O2 in London.

Shields stays ready, but I want to see if she can get a knock down for those who doubt her power. She's probably going to whoop her ass on the way to a UD, but all the hype deserves at least a knock down.

Those who doubt her power? She has 2 knockouts in 12 wins.

Nah, when you consider that they're fighting 2 minute rounds, a true boxer will have trouble setting up a knock out unless she comes out over aggressive, which could lead to opening herself up to getting hit by something she doesn't see. Most of the KOs will happen if the opponent is already hurt from the previous round or gassed. But, sometimes the perfect counter could do it, but its rare in women's boxing

You must of been at the weigh-in and got a whiff of Savannah Marshall's beans on toast farts.

Nah, Sav has ko’d multiple opponents that shields couldn’t. They both fight under the same rules. YDKSAB.

Three American women competing in the main cards and in a foreign land. Are they braver than US men when it comes to fighting abroad? I think so.
