Former world champion Sergey Lipinets didn't fight like a late replacement. Lipinets dropped and punished former world champion Omar "Panterita" Figueroa Jr. for eight rounds, causing Figueroa's father and trainer Omar Sr. to stop the fight before the start of the ninth round in a scheduled 12-round WBC Super Lightweight title eliminator headlining live on Showtime from Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. A disappointed Figueroa announced his retirement following the fight.

Moral lesson of the story is don't let anyone drag you into a weight you're not comfortable in just because someone wants a showcase fight.

And while we're at it, why don't you tell Jaron Ennis to come to your weight and see if he will accept the challenge.

Nobody forced Lipinets to move to 147 he made that choice on his own.

Whether it was AB or Lipinets, I felt this fight was more about Omar than anything else. He was ready to go.

Lipinets did well to seal the deal though, he's been solid.

Broner must be in a REALLY bad spot that his people thought he could get roughed up by this version of Figueroa.
Damn Wicked Damn Wicked likes this.

Because if Boots did go to his weight class people like you would be screaming WEIGHT BULLY! Sheesh you just can't win with SOME people.

Nah AB couldn't have done that last night cause his body is too filled up with booze and drugs. That being said 140 is about to be the new 147. With PBC fighters like Lipinets, AB, Subriel, Gary Russell and Prograis and TR with Teo, Zepada and the rest, I think where in for a nice couple of years at 140.
