  • Comments Thread For: Arum Optimistic About Staging Lomachenko-Stevenson Next Year: 'Both Guys Want That Fight'

Bob Arum is hoping to make an obvious, fan-friendly match-up a reality by the end of next year. The head of Top Rank Inc. was recently asked by FightHype.com about the future of Shakur Stevenson, the unified 130-pound titlist from Newark, New Jersey. Asked if a showdown with Ryan Garcia might be in the cards, Arum demurred, citing the fact he does not promote Garcia; the 23-year-old lightweight is backed by rival outfit Golden Boy Promotions.

Like paulie said on his podcast, TR really wants Loma to get those belts off of Haney, to set up Loma vs Shakur next year. Perfect matchmaking.

I think a Shakur and Loma fight is a dream match up. What a fight ...

Haney vs Loma, Very interesting matchup for a 34 years old Loma. Could Haney be just young and crafty enough to keep Loma off of him for 12 rounds.

I think Loma can take it. Doesn’t have the power to worry about like he did with Teo. Shakur seems so massive, Loma would find it hard to get on the inside against him IMO.

It's almost like Devin Haney wasn't Loma's mandatory and someone at TR didn't ask for the franchise title to not face Devin Haney.

It's crazy how disrespected the undisputed champion is and it's going to sting y'all to see Loma get his ears boxed off him by either Devin or Shakur.
