  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Downplays Thurman-Garcia Rematch, Wants To See Garcia Fight Conor Benn

Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing, has been campaigning for the past year to have England's Benn, the hard-hitting rising 147-pounder, face off against some of the top names at welterweight. Long at the top of Hearn's list has been Keith Thurman, the native of Clearwater, Florida, and former 147-pound champion. Other names Hearn expressed interest in were Maurice Hooker and Adrien Broner.

no one in the UK gives a sh** about Junior vs Junior apart from the sweet caroline w@nkers

I want to see Benn step up against legitimate welters Garcia ain't fighting at 147 again. there's a long list of decent enough fights at 147 at this stage in his career. Lopez Avenesyan Kava loads. Chuck Marku a decent wedge and make that fight that would do 20,000 at the O2 no problem. honestly 147 is so f-kin stale right now with all the promoters protecting their fighters. Look at the names in this division it should be going off right now but it's stuck in the mud. Even the f-kin ring belt is vacant.

I like your sentiment, these guys at 147 just need to fight each other - but aren't the 'sweet caroline w@nkers' the ones that fill the stadium, while you sit at home watching on an illegal stream for free?

          Just saying. Money talks.

Hearn should make the Benn versus Conner as the main event , and the Garcia versus Thurman co-main event on the same card.
As a lead up to whom ever wins fighting each other, and whom ever are the loser's to fight each other as well.
I believe that will draw a good size crowd as a promotion in the states, or abroad between the older, and the newer fighters, earning all four of them, two decent pay day's.

Vergil Ortiz Jr., David Avanesyan, Eimanatas Stanionis, and Jaron "Boots" Ennis, are the 4 names Conor Benn needs to be chasing! DSG is not even fighting at Welterweight anymore! Conor Benn might want to talk to Andrade! It seems clear that MatchRoom is just not gonna be able to help him!

If Conor Benn fights Danny Garcia, the fight should be at 154 pounds.

Garcia should not be bulled into taking the fight at a catch weight etc.

Who are the "sweet Caroline wankers"?

The people singing at fury vs Whyte?

The story doesn't matter to, but the title really illustrates/highlights what we sometimes forget in the moment, boxers have less control than we think. Promoters and Sanc. boddies, play everyone.
