  • Comments Thread For: Gary Antuanne Russell: If Barthelemy Was Allowed To Continue, It Would've Been Same Outcome

Barclays Center, Brooklyn - Unbeaten rising star Gary Antuanne Russell (16-0, 16 KOs) delivered a sixth-round TKO (:50) over former two-division Rances Barthelemy (29-2-1, 15 KOs) in their super lightweight clash to keep his perfect knockout streak intact. Russell landed a clean leaping right hook that dropped Barthelemy early in the round, and while Barthelemy was able to get to his feet, referee Shada Murdaugh waived off the action, drawing boisterous complaints from Barthelemy, his corner and the crowd in attendance.

One of the worst performances by a ref in recent memory. Had Rancid Barthelemy been able to continue, I think he would have pulled it off. He seemed to be in control throughout most of the fight. I will give Russell this he actually made a Bathelemy fight enjoyable. That is quite the accomplishment. Also shout out to Bronx who stated he was excited for the fight, it was entertaining. Just an awful ending, thanks to that crappy ref.

Antuanne saying all the right things besides saying he’ll do it again
In all honesty , if he really wants to be seen as a threat , winning rightly against Rances would be the right thing to do
Great fight until ref decides to make it about him

Bad stoppages are happening too often. Someone needs to shake these refs and tell them to let things finish conclusively.

Why would he be fired? He was doing what he was told.

Nobody was complaining when ceija was whooping Rigos ass and the other ref did the same thing, Or Bradley and Joshua getting saved in the final round by the fight being stopped 10 seconds early. Or Mares Ward and Salido winning by hundreds of low blows. Or Mayweather using his elbow and turning his back illegally so his opponents couldn’t hit him. Or Robert Byrd saving Floyd against Connor. You fanboys are race groupies.

Obviously, nobody has ever come back from a knockdown to win a fight... Ever!

Everything. All the pbc hype guys excuse the most bs cards and stoppages. It’s annoying. Let the better man win and keep it moving. These guys are ****** trying to build something that doesn’t exist.
