  • Comments Thread For: Buatsi, Pascal Both Accept IBF Invitation To Enter Talks For Ordered Title Eliminator

An easier time came of proceeding with plans to determine the next IBF mandatory challenger than was the case at heavyweight earlier this year. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that representatives for Joshua Buatsi and Jean Pascal have both responded to and accepted an invitation from the IBF to enter talks for a sanctioned final eliminator. Both parties were required to respond by Monday at 5:00 p.m. with their intentions to proceed with the fight, which will be followed by the next step of the IBF assigning a free negotiation period to work out terms.

this is exactly who Yarde and Buatsi should be facing at this point. Pascal has shown he's old but still capable lately.

They couldn't regardless. Good fight though. I think if Buatsi knows what he's gotta work on he'll beat Pascal.

You never know with these corrupt organizations, especially the WBA

Especially since Hearn desperately wanted Buatsi to fight Bivol. Since we can't get Beterbiev-Bivol next, Bivol-Ramirez and Buatsi-Pascal are the right fights to make.

I love this fight for Buatsi's development.
If he can impress against Pascal,
he can then fit in one more voluntary development fight before the big dice roll against Beterbiev.

Hearn was already told by the WBA to kick rocks..

Bivol has been ducking Zurdo long enough

The type of fight Buatsi needs ahead of a title fight. Looking forward to watching it

This is how the IBF acquires the same outcome as the WBC and WBA by constantly vacating the #1 and #2 spots ( I've been saying this for years-have a look at any rankings page and you will see) so they can cash in on endless 'title eliminators'.

They avoid the direct negative association by having multiple belts in one weight class, but this way they get the revenue and fees from hyped fights.

Beterbiev won't have to immediately face either of these guys if he's a marketing success, if not the IBF will just strip him.

They stripped Crawford within something like two weeks of him claiming the 140-pound undisputed status.

That aside, Pascal has proven to be a tough and well-conditioned aging journeyman who should give Buatsi (the media favorite) a tough test.

I really would like to see Yarde v Buatsi at some point, and it's also looking like it's going to take too long before we see Bivol v Beterbiev-which ought to be the next fight or at least the first fight next year as Beterbiev is closing in on 40.
