  • Comments Thread For: Andre Ward: People Will Say Nonito's Older; He Didn't Look Old In His Last Fight

Andre Ward wasn't quite ready to elevate Naoya Inoue to the top spot on his pound-for-pound list Tuesday. As much as the ESPN analyst tried to avoid overreacting to Inoue's annihilation of Nonito Donaire, Ward wouldn't flippantly attribute the Japanese superstar's success to Donaire's age, either. Donaire is 39, but Ward considers the 29-year-old Inoue's impressive performance during his second-round, technical-knockout win more reflective of Inoue's greatness.

Nonito started with good movement but he was one step behind Inoue the whole time. Donaire is a hall of famer for sure and has nothing left to prove

There goes Andre Ward, singing for his supper. Bob must be paying him real good to spew this nonsense. Honestly the guys at Bantamweight right now aren't very good, that's why Donaire looked good against them. It's not rocket science. Inoue was bouncing around the ring like a young Manny Pacquiao, while Donaire was stationary and slow, if that didn't show you that Donaire was past it then you must be blind.

39 is long old by boxing standards. 34 and you're out of your physical prime, thats a fact.

Can't you say the same thing about Andre Ward? He didn't look old against Kovalev 2 and then he retired citing his age and how his body can't keep up.

And for lower weights 39 might as well be 50 years old, its ancient for the weight class.
