Donnie Nietes will add another chapter to his boxing story if he reclaims the WBO world junior bantamweight title next month. The former four-weight world champion challenges Kazuto Ioka, in Tokyo, on July 13 for the belt he won in 2018, when defeating the Japanese star.

Three split-decisions in Donnie Nietes last four fights, he arguably lost two of them, one vs. Kazuto Ioka in the first encounter. Then you got Kazuto Ioka looking like sht vs. Francisco Rodriguez Jr and failing to destroy that bum Ryoji Fukunaga.

But like you said Donnie looks finished, but Kazuto also seems to be fading fast since his remarkable win over Kosei Tanaka. I love the 115 scene, but I cant believe that this one is not doing nothing for me.

Good post sir! Monster Inoue is probably too strong, but I'd like to see him against Ioka at 118

It will be huge but I think Donnie Nietes still got it.

Two Japanese HOF, I'm down. It be like when Ioka met Akira In February 2012, in a FOTY for the WBC & WBA minimumweight titles.

It would be good all-japan and cash out fight for Ioka if he can get past Neites. But, at this point, I think Inoue is too big for him.

It would seem that this has been the case since around 2013-2014 when both Ioka-Inoue were at 108 if I'm not mistaken. Naoya leaped well beyond Kazuto's reach for a while, from 108 over to 115, and even still the 'Monster' is a weight above.

Nietes is no longer the same in their first meeting so Ioka has more chances to get the revenge. Nietes career has been stuck due to sticking so much time in poor promotion of Ala. Now he will pay the price...
