Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano continue to exceed expectations weeks after their epic championship clash. The April 30 superfight at New York City's famed Madison Square Garden was a rousing success in every sense of the word. Ireland's Taylor fended off a stiff challenge from Serrano, the seven-division titlist from Brooklyn by way of Puerto Rico, to retain her undisputed lightweight championship in front of a sold-out and rabid crowd of 19,187 which produced a staggering $1,450,180.60 in final ticket sales.

A win for all boxing, looks like they pulled in some new female fans as well, hopefully, that trickles into the men's fights across the board as well and we get some new fans in rather than everyone competing for the same shrinking market n the States at least.

“Hopefully, it will be a springboard for more featured women’s fights in the future.”

Gonna need some big, charismatic personalities as well for it to build on this momentum. Rivalries, attractive fighting styles... It's a lot to ask, to be honest.

Katie Taylor is pretty smart. Why fight Amanda Serrano for ten extra minutes, and get KO for the same purse?

With those figures either a lot of free tickets were given away or tickets went for cheap.
Those numbers come out to an average of $75 dollars a ticket.

This is not that good for the amount of people that was there. Good start for Womens boxing though. There were people saying this fight did better than Charlo-Castano. I’m not too sure of that. Looks like Eddie/Jake gave out thousands of tickets for free.

I am VERY positive it did better than Charlo/Castano. I was at that fight and the crowd was nice but it did not do anywhere near a million, let alone 1.5M.

It generated $1.45 million in ticket sales but each fighter got paid seven figures.

Did this thing even turn much of a profit?
