  • Comments Thread For: Fanlong's Trainer: Pascal Is A Cheat; He's Lying, Got Caught & Now He's Trying To Save Face

Shaun George doesn't believe any of Jean Pascal's claims related to why he failed tests for four performance-enhancing drugs prior to his rematch with Badou Jack almost a year ago.

Always liked Pascal but his late-career comeback is very suspect now after the PED stuff came out. I don't wanna totally write the guy off but I probably should considering I would for most other fighters. It's just us Canadians have so few fighters to root for at a high level. Pascal probably losing on points tomorrow and Lemieux likely getting murdered Saturday night... It is what it is

        Just what George said.

There's no way those drugs "accidentally" got in his system, or that Pascal doesn't know how they got there.

He's a drug cheat, plain and simple imo.

People are going to keep using PEDs until all the legitimate fighters collectively refuse to deal with them. A guy who was on four PEDs should be permanently banned from the sport. Ditto for guys like Canelo who has been caught more than once.

Not sure what you're talking about, Canelo only had the clenbuterol episode.

"But, Alvarez’s team confirmed on Monday their boxer had failed two drug tests, taken on February 17 and 20 by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), and traces of banned substance clenbuterol had been discovered in his system."

So maybe Canelo ate contaminated meat. Maybe. But lots of Mexican fighters eat meat without getting a hit on clenbuterol. That said, the sport of boxing may be in a condition like pro bike racing got into, where all the top performers were doping, so if you weren't doping, you had absolutely no chance of being competitive. That's why Armstrong and a lot of others got into it. What set Armstrong apart was how he used medical technology to avoid getting caught even when it was an open secret that he was doping heavily with EPO, which boosts red blood cell count, and human growth hormone (HGH), which makes you unnaturally strong.

How effective is HGH? A friend of mine was short of stature when he was a kid, so he was treated medically with HGH. Even at the age of 50, he could still do one-handed chin-ups. PEDs work, and they work well, or athletes would not be using them.

When a fighter is caught doping, that ought to be the end of his pro sports career unless he can show really, really good evidence that he's innocent. Canelo never showed that. He just claimed it was Mexican meat, and since he was the Bank of Canelo and the big Las Vegas money man, everybody shrugged it off. Except GGG, who kept talking about it, and now Canelo hates him pretty bad over it.

Those were positive tests for the same clenbuterol incident. That's not being caught more than once.
