It was hilarious the interaction these 2 had after Bivol was announced the winner. They hugged and Bivol than pointed to his left bicep and shook his figner left and right as if telling Canelo “Nope. Not today”.

i dont remember reynoso giving canelo any legit instruction in the corner. don't even think he told him he was losing or in danger of losing.,

Saul was attacking Dimitry's left arm with such force that he ( Alvarez ) seemed to lack the energy or strength to pull his hand back to block the counter. The irony is that Alvarez appeared to handicap himself using this strategy, not the other way around.

A tip from a pro ( me ) : if this is happening to you, smother your opponent, burry your head in his chest or rest on the shoulder, but see Saul does not like to clinch so that is a weakness.

Not only was alvarez exposed, but his trainer was also exposed. It's a joke how quick they rushed to proclaim him trainer of the year, it was an insult actually. reynoso has 3 losses this year, the losses themselves aren't what make him a bad trainer, but manner in which his fighter's were beaten is. all 3 were just straight up losses from beginning to finish without any visible adjustments being made. What is his job if his fighters keep doing the same thing and losing but he is in the corner?

Isn’t that the truth. Canelo punched himself out by punching Dmitry’s arms. By the tenth round I noticed that Canelo was totally spent.

Had Bivol would have settled down on his punches more; He would have gotten the knockout victory because by that time Canelo was no longer using his high guard defense.

He was holding hands down by his waist while retreating and backing up in the process. He didn’t have much left by then.

I wouldn’t be so quick to slate Canelo. He was probing and seeing if he might not open Bivol up the way he opened up his last 7 opponents. Perfectly good strategy to experiment with, and it has worked.

What should have been obvious, however, is that Bivol doesn’t stand still, and isn’t merely waiting for Canelo to get tired of trying to prod and prise him open, like a rolled-up hedgehog would be waiting for a Crow to get tired of pecking away and **** off. Bivol engages, and then disengages, and his footwork, measure of distance and hand speed mean he can do this at will, with a limit to damage received.

This was obvious to me and numerous other complete non-professional observers on this forum; total, random ****heads to be blunt. Somehow, it wasn’t obvious to Reynoso pre-fight. At least I’m guessing, otherwise he would have set up camp for Canelo in a completely different manner.

Assuming that that was indeed the case, and it’s not that Canelo employs “yes men” and can’t take instructions, here. And it might be a big assumption to make.

Those times when Bivol had Canelo on the ropes and poured it on him could have been devastating to their collective mental health and the future of machismo….already the ultimate fragile concept it is

Great spot and great breakdown. It was just the entirely wrong gameplan, and it was evident that it would be before the fight even begun.

Based on the post-fight press conference, Bivol thinks frequent power shots are an inefficient use of energy, if his thoughts on Canelo’s ring strategy are anything to go by.


But he definitely does have power and he could definitely have had Canelo out of there if he had committed. Then we’d be in a whole new ball game. Saw him almost KO Smith jr. in round 12 of their fights, and he’s huge.
