  • Comments Thread For: Canelo's Big Gamble Doesn't Pay Off Against Bivol

By Corey Erdman - In the two days leading up to Canelo Alvarez's bout with Dmitry Bivol, the streets on the southernmost end of the Las Vegas strip were lined with folks slinging t-shirts, hats, flags and headbands bearing Canelo's name. Many of them doubled as vendors of mangoes and Tajin and tacos as well. The paraphernalia often depicted Canelo with a crown. The vibe in the city felt like a festival celebrating a superhero about to conquer his latest challenge.

He bit off more than he could chew! Bivol was the better and bigger man! Case closed!

"This allowed Bivol to win a clear twelfth round that was ultimately critical to him winning a decision and not being given a draw"

      True And
That scoring was an absolute disgrace

And that's fine cuz at the end of the day, Canelo has fought tough challenges consistently while other fighters are content on hiding behind their promoters. So all this Canelo bashing is silly.

Canelo is fighting everyone and the others are not fighting each other. He dared to be great and the others didn't care to determine the best of the rest. He earned his top spot.

He took the fight simply because he thought it would have been a much easier fight than David Benavidez; The very same man that he had been ducking all this time but boy was he wrong?

He would have had a much better chance of stopping Benavidez than he ever would against Dmitry Bivol; Who was not only the more scientific of the two fighters but likewise the more fundamentally sound of the two also.as David would have been the much easier fighter to hit.

It’s just like what another poster said; "This was very poor matchmaking by both Eddy Reynoso and Eddie Hearn". Chasing dreams history, daring to be great and solidifying his legacy be damned.

His fans can buy that shit "hook, line and sinker" all they want too but the bottom line is he fought Bivol simply because he underestimated him and because he was avoiding David Benavidez

Canelo bashing? Nice try! He got his ass kicked by a guy who his fanboys thought was a pushover! War Bivol! Canelo was a product of corrupt judging! Thankfully those day are over!

I always stated that Bivol and Beterbiev are not just bigger and naturally stronger, but also are very good boxers. Benavidez would be different.

Btw: a 200 pound Usyk would embarass and hurt Canelo.

How do you even think that way? Bivol is levels above anything that Benavidez can do if Canelo had beaten Bivol he would of went after Beterbiev.

His goal was to unify 175 loss on the weekend is a big setback.
